HP just released two new smartphones with Vodafone (Europe) today.
The new iPAQ Voice Messenger and iPAQ Data Messenger both run on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
The Data Messenger features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen. The Voice Messenger doesn’t have a touchscreen, and features a standard alphanumeric keypad, as it is focused primarily on voice calling.
HTC has left us hoping with their upcoming Touch HD phone but they are not planning to bring it over here in North America.
According to a post on a Twitter account, HTC says that by the time they can have it here, the technology will already be “passé”. However, they apparently have “other cool stuff” for us. Let’s hope they live up to it!
In an almost official statement, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer indicated that a Windows Mobile version of the Zune software and Zune Store would be in the works.
We don’t know when and how but we know it’s coming. Next version of the Windows Mobile platform should come pre-loaded with Zune we hope.
Microsoft officially announced their upcoming Internet Explorer 6 browser for Windows Mobile.
This is a much anticipated release as the version on current Windows Mobile devices is outdated and based on a very old version of IE4. Lets hope Microsoft will offer this as an easy upgrade for all WinMo users!
Good news to everyone that has a Windows Mobile device: Skyfire is now available as a download for everyone!
Skyfire is a web browser that promises the same experience that you get on a regular computer but this time on your Windows Mobile powered phone or device. You will even be able to play Quicktime and Windows Media files straight from the browser!

Sony’s latest phone to hit the market will not hit the North American market anytime soon it seems but at least we know it’s coming.
There will be a webcast announcing the launch of the phone in the Europe, Asia and Latin America. Those markets will see the XPERIA X1 starting on September 30th.
