HTC has left us hoping with their upcoming Touch HD phone but they are not planning to bring it over here in North America.
According to a post on a Twitter account, HTC says that by the time they can have it here, the technology will already be “passé”. However, they apparently have “other cool stuff” for us. Let’s hope they live up to it!
The Android Authority has an article that suggests the the new T-Mobile HTC G1 phone will be selling at under the announced price of $179 with a two-year contract.
The price is rumored to be around $99 at select retail locations. Does this mean three-year contract or perhaps on a more expensive monthly plan? We’ll have to wait and see.
Since I speak both English and French, I prepared the following translation of some of the highlights in the video that the guys at Génération Phone House did of the HTC Touch HD cell phone.
They start by saying that the version they have on hand is not the definitive and final version but that it is almost production.
The first cell phone to officially support Google’s Android platform will be the HTC Dream. T-Mobile will unveil it on September 23rd during a press conference in New York city.
I found this post on a French tech web site that says there will be a white version of the HTC Touch Diamond available in October in Europe.
I haven’t found anything else supporting that though so I can just tell you to check it out for yourselves…
It’s official and on the HTC web site right now for your viewing pleasure.
The HTC Touch HD will have a 3.8 inch touch screen featuring a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. It will have a standard 3.5” headphone jack (nice), GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth®: 2.0 with EDR and will run at 528Mhz.
This phone will also have a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus.
Expect it in Q4 of 2008 for Europe but no date yet for the Americas.
