Microsoft Says “No” to Blu-Ray

Xbox 360

Xbox 360

Microsoft officially responded to rumors around a Blu-Ray disc player for the Xbox 360.

They “do not plan on having Blu-Ray support anytime soon” confirmed Major Nelson on his official Xbox 360 blog. This probably has to do with very slow adoption of the “new” Blu-Ray media, and also because of the failure of the original HD-DVD external drive that Microsoft tried to push when HD-DVD was still alive.

I guess they just don’t want to repeat the same mistake again…

What’s going to happen on November 19th? The new Xbox experience that is! Well, what is it?

Judging from Microsoft’s Press Release, we can tell that it is going to include new Xbox 360 bundles, and that we should expect “a transformation in home entertainment”.

Here are the new Xbox 360 holiday bundles:

  • Xbox 360 Arcade – $199.99 – Includes Sega Superstar Tennis and 5 Xbox 360 Arcade games
  • Xbox 360 – $299.99 – Includes LEGO Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda

Making YouTube Profitable

YouTube

YouTube

Like what you see? Then “Click to Buy”. You will see a lot of this on YouTube from now on.

It’s no secret, Google has been loosing a lot of money with YouTube because it’s not profitable enough. Sure, it’s popular, but it doesn’t bring profits to the company. As a first step in transforming YouTube into a money-making venture, Google started integrating non-intrusive links within certain video pages that promote different type of products and media.

Users will be able to buy the music tracks of certain music videos they like to watch, or buy a game or movie right after watching the preview or teaser. Partnerships have already been made with iTunes and Amazon.

Nintendo: New DS Coming Soon

Nintendo

Nintendo

It’s almost official: Nintendo will be releasing a new version of their very popular portable video game system, Nintendo DS.

According to the Nikkei Japanese newspaper, the new device will feature a built-in camera, music playback and wireless connectivity (WiFi maybe). If this is the case, the new device would go the other way that the iPhone did; from games to multimedia device.

If we follow the trend, the iPhone went from phone to games. Will the DS go from games to phone? OK that’s far fetched but still…
