EU to Mandate Removable Batteries in Electronic Devices
The Europeen Union is working on new directives targetted at electronic devices manufacturers concerning battery replacement.
As it is the trend for the ever shrinking gadget, manufacturers are now installing “permanent” batteries in their devices that cannot be removed or replaced by the end-user. When the life of the battery is over, the device is to be brought to a professional for it to be replaced which in turn, costs more money to the customer.
The new directives would force manufacturers to design their devices with easily removable batteries. Go EU, Go!
